Knee and Spine Surgeon
Former Chief of Orthopedic Department (Mafraq Hospital)
Born in Tripoli, Libya; holding a dual citizenship of Libya and Ireland, Dr. Benbarka has been practicing in the United Arab Emirates since 1992.
Dr. Benbarka received his M.B.B.Ch. (Medicinae Baccalaureus, Baccalaureus Chirurgiae) from Ain Shams University, Cairo. His post graduate career started in the United Kingdom and Ireland, in 1980, where he obtained his F.R.C.S. (Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons) and engaged in extensive surgical training. He then left to the Gulf region in 1990 to work as a Consultant in Orthopedics.
In 1994, Dr. Benbarka became the Head of the Orthopedic Department at Mafraq Hospital. There, he was able to contribute his extensive experience and skills to trauma cases in need of knee and spinal surgeries.
Dr. Benbarka has recently concentrated his work on Arthroscopic surgeries for the knees and shoulders. To date, he has performed over 1,000 arthroscopies. He also specializes in minimal spine surgeries, including disectomy without wound and nucleoplasty.
Dr. Benbarka's research interests are focused on the latest developments in knee and spine surgery.
He is married and has 2 children. His hobbies are swimming, fishing, and travelling.
